  • The Salvation Army announced that matching donations from Mayo Clinic and an anonymous donor helped the red kettle campaign surpass its $365,000 goal in Olmsted County. The funds will support local healthcare, housing, meals and youth programs.  KIMT
  • Yesterday, at Silver Lake Memorial, the Rochester Fire Department held a ceremony to remember firefighters Ambrose Riley and Stanley O'Brien—who died while trying to save a child more than 70 years ago. The event featured a speech, bell ringing and a moment of silence attended by families including Riley's great-grandson.  KIMT
  • Word on Fire said Monday that unauthorized access to Bishop Robert Barron’s social media account was discovered after a review showed a bad actor liked scandalous pages online — the organization is boosting cybersecurity measures to protect his digital presence.  KIMT
  • Celebrate Rochester! New Year's Eve is a free, family-friendly event featuring live music, indoor roller skating, bounce houses, video games, and a kids' balloon drop at 6:00 p.m. The festivities run from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Mayo Civic Center (Rochester).  KROC-AM

  • Kwik Trip in Rochester introduced a new Salted Caramel Dunker flavor today amid busy holiday shopping. The treat was teased on social media and is now available at several local locations for donut fans to try.  KROC-AM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mayo Clinic researchers in Rochester have developed an AI model that doubles liver disease diagnoses in patients without symptoms by analyzing routine ECG data & linking them to early treatment. The Precure initiative will follow up with these cases over the next two years.  KIMT
