COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Rochester mom started Operation One More in 2018 to pack and deliver grocery bags to families during winter break—volunteers now will sort donations at Edina Realty and aim to help 250 families by December 1.  KROC-AM
  • Yesterday, Minnesotans raised over $37.8 million at the 17th annual Give To The Max Day for more than 6,000 nonprofits and schools statewide—breaking previous records and distributing over $109,000 in Golden Ticket grants. Jenna Ray, CEO of GiveMN, said the record turnout showed neighbors across zip codes united to support local causes.  KROC-AM

BUSINESS NEWS

  • fuboTV dropped KTTC from its service because of a dispute between Disney and Comcast that affects all NBC and Telemundo affiliates + KTTC says viewers can still watch local programming free with an antenna or its streaming apps and urges both sides to resolve the issue quickly.  KTTC
  • Mike’s Full Lawn Service in Hayfield is a finalist in the KAGE Wing Plow contest run by KAGE Innovation and is competing for early use of new snow plows as social media voting continues (until Dec. 7).  KTTC
  • The Minnesota Beef Council Board of Directors proposed raising the checkoff fee from $1 to $1.50 per beef animal, letting producers vote by mail with ballot requests due by February 12, and if approved, they will receive a fifty-cent refund per head. CEO Kelly Schmidt said the change is needed as drought has reduced cattle numbers + recent low revenue has forced staff cuts.  KTTC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dakota Middle School will keep its bison mascot after the Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council approved the exemption request Friday — the decision followed consultations with Native students and families to honor Dakota heritage.  KTTC

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Olmsted County is monitoring PFAS levels at local waste facilities and exploring treatment options to reduce chemical exposure—officials support legislation to lower PFAS use while confirming that community water systems remain safe.  KIMT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials announced that 2nd St. SW near St. Mary's Hospital, closed between 11th and 13th Avenues SW for Link Bus Rapid Transit construction, will reopen to traffic Monday, Nov. 24. The roadway will run with one lane in each direction—officials noted that motorists could face additional closures as work continues.  KROC-AM

  • Fans from the Kasson-Mantorville area gathered Friday at Hidden Pines Bar and Grill in Minneapolis to watch the K-M KoMets lose 21-14 to the Orono Spartans—staff noted a smaller crowd as funds were raised to secure kids' tickets.  KTTC
