COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials at Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo announced that the 15-year-old bull elk was put down yesterday due to a sudden decline in his health (zoo staff had been monitoring his condition closely). The zoo said a young bull offspring will remain with the herd (staff noted the elk was a cherished part of the exhibit).  KROC-AM

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Hope Lodge Gala raised over $246,000 at the Hilton Rochester Mayo Clinic Area Hotel on Saturday to fund free lodging for cancer patients receiving treatment at Mayo Clinic — the funds support the American Cancer Society Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge, which hosted over 1,900 guests last year.  KIMT
  • Brighter Tomorrow’s hosted its annual Go for the Gold race on Saturday morning at Cascade Lake to raise funds for families affected by childhood cancer. The family-friendly event featured kid races, a 3K fun walk, and both 5K and 10K races with virtual options while drawing about 200 participants and offering a magician and miniature horse for entertainment.  KTTC

  • Rochester bars and restaurants hosted Halloween events with American Legion Post 92’s party on Oct25 — while other venues such as Chester’s and Eagles Club will host festivities on Oct31 with live music and costume contests.  KROC-AM
