BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Taco Bell will build its new Live Más Café in Rochester on a 1.03-acre lot along Cascade Creek Road NW—across from Costco—with a boutique look featuring purple accents and a modern, rustic interior. Construction will begin in spring 2026 and the opening is planned for late summer or early fall. KROC-AM
- ➤ Sam's Club in Minnesota will begin new shopping hours tomorrow as Plus members shop from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. (a change made from customer feedback) while all members shop from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and the holiday schedule is updated to close the store on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day (with extended hours until 8:00 p.m. on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and New Year's Eve). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former Olmsted County Sheriff Chuck VonWald died of natural causes at age 96 on Thursday — he served as sheriff for 20 years and was remembered for his generosity and warm laughter. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home — a memorial service will follow at 5:30 p.m. KROC
- ➤ Mayor Kim Norton is inviting Rochester school students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades to join the Mayor for a Day contest so they can share ideas to improve the city — students will have until Dec. 12 to enter and may win $100 with recognition in Minnesota Cities magazine. KTTC
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Seasons Hospice hosted a commemoration on Friday to mark the closing of its hospice house after more than 25 years—shifting its focus to in-home hospice care for patients and families. Staff, volunteers and community members attended the event—recognizing the long service and guiding transition. KTTC
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Savannah Bananas, a baseball team known for its fun and untraditional play, will face the Loco Beach Coconuts at Target Field from August 7th to 9th. Fans must join a ticket lottery by October 31st — tickets go fast for this event. KROC-AM
- ➤ The Hiawathaland Figure Skating Competition began Friday at Rochester Recreation Center and will continue through October 12—featuring over 100 events in singles, pairs, and showcase categories. Spectators enjoy free admission while skaters and coaches follow strict rules against live streaming and recording. KIMT
