CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Rochester woman allegedly led police on a chase in April that ended when she crashed into a city building and was found competent to stand trial on charges of obstruction by interfering with a police officer, felony fleeing, and driving while intoxicated — she will attend a settlement conference on October 28. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Public Schools proposed closing Friedell Middle School, the former Mighty Oaks Early Learning building, and Skyline Elementary building at Tuesday’s board meeting—these closures aim to cut around $13 million in district expenses and address declining enrollment while ensuring programs find new homes. A final vote on Sept. 23 will decide whether to sell Skyline and complete the process. KTTC
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Rochester is hosting a series of workshops to help residents boost indoor air quality, lower utility costs, and improve housing safety in partnership with the Center for Energy and Environment. The sessions will be held at the Development Services and Infrastructure Center on West River Parkway, with the first workshop on September 25 — covering home electrification basics. KIMT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rochester will host its first public open house for the 2.5-mile Willow Creek Regional Trail project on September 16 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Olmsted County Public Works Service Center—residents can ask questions and offer input as the project is still in the feasibility study phase. KIMT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mayo Clinic Health Systems plans to close six clinical locations in Belle Plaine, Caledonia, Montgomery, Northridge, St. Peter and Wells by Dec. 10—reducing its network from 25 to 19 sites. The system said patients will be redirected to nearby facilities in Mankato, New Prague, Albert Lea and La Crosse. KROC-AM
- ➤ Sixteen-year-old Konnor Repp returned home after receiving a new heart at Mayo Clinic in June—it took 246 days of treatment. He looks forward to turning 17 on October 1 and spending time fishing with family as the community celebrates his recovery. KIMT
