ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A collision between a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcyclist from Rochester and a rider on a 1991 motorcycle on Highway 24 near mile marker 13 in Kingston Township injured the Rochester rider Saturday morning—he was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital while the other rider remained unharmed.  KIMT

CRIME NEWS

  • A Rochester man, 48-year-old Bobby Escobar, was charged with sexually assaulting a woman during a drug deal on August 26th in the True Life Church parking lot when she offered her vehicle title in lieu of cash—police later executed a search warrant at his home recovering suspect clothing and 1.5 grams of cocaine while he made a court appearance Friday and is held on $50,000 bail.  KROC-AM
  • A Rochester man is facing charges of first-degree drug sales and drug possession after police raided an apartment on August 27—where they found over 105 grams of meth, fentanyl, cash, and cell phones—and his bail was set at $100K.  KROC-AM

  • Gallery 24 in Rochester extended its leaf-themed art exhibit 'Always Be-Leave: Minnesota Leaves As Art' through Sept 16 due to high public interest—fiber artist Julie Yost said the work captures the fleeting beauty of leaves while Kay Fox noted its perfect timing with autumn approaching.  KIMT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Sept. 5, about 80 Mayo High School students held a walkout during lunch as part of the Rochester Community Initiative to demand tighter gun controls after the Annunciation shooting—this protest joined similar actions across the nation. Student organizer Maria Villavicencio Zambrano said the demonstration showed their fear and need for stricter firearm rules.  KIMT
