COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Three Rivers Restorative Justice in Rochester released study findings from a University of Minnesota-Duluth survey of 250 clients over 22 months, showing a 96% satisfaction rate and strong completion of reparations agreements. The program uses face-to-face meetings with victims and offenders—helping juveniles reduce reoffending and return smoothly to school and community life.  KTTC

CRIME NEWS

  • Rochester police reported that a westbound driver was cited for leaving the scene after a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on 55th Street NW at Highway 52 — no injuries were reported.  KTTC
  • 46-year-old Malik Johnson pleaded guilty to first-degree assault for hitting community activist Charles Jackson, known as Yammy Bear, with a tire pump at a halfway house on the Olmsted County campus in April, causing a skull fracture and traumatic brain injury while he remains in custody with sentencing set for October.  KROC
  • A Rochester man pleaded guilty today to one felony theft charge after admitting to making 12 online transfers totaling over $46K from a woman with dementia who could not assist with the case—he said his gambling addiction led him to spend the money at casinos in Red Wing and Las Vegas.  KROC

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Minnesota State Fair has begun today and will run through Labor Day with fairgrounds open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. — on Labor Day, they close at 9 p.m. Visitors can use Metro transit, park and ride options, taxis, or rideshare, and admission tickets are available online and at the fairgrounds for $20 for adults.  KTTC
