- ➤ Silver Lake pool will finish construction by the end of May 2026—allowing the new 25-yard facility with a climbing wall and free splash pad to open for the swimming season. The project has been slightly delayed but will recover in the fall to support planned swimming lessons with Rochester Swim Club. KTTC
- ➤ Since August 1, Rochester Public Library cardholders can check out a SPARK museum pass that admits up to six people if used within seven days—passes are available at the Main Library and Bookmobile with one pass per card and five passes offered weekly. Library Director Karen Lemke says the program supports a commitment to connect families with enriching experiences. KIMT

- ➤ On Tuesday a crash near the Olmsted-Fillmore County line sent a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old girl to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester when a Toyota collided with a Chevy on Hwy. 30 in Chatfield (10:15 p.m. per the State Patrol). KROC-AM

- ➤ On August 13, Bullpen partnered with Destination Medical Center to launch a three-day networking event at Two Discovery Square that attracted over seventy local businesses and fifty investors from the life science sector. Patrick Seeb stated the event aimed to boost collaborations and diversify Rochester's business community for future growth. KIMT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Elba woman was caught in gunfire after pulling up to her apartment on South Main Street Tuesday night when at least seven rounds were fired, causing two bullets to embed in her car and shrapnel wounds that are non-life-threatening, and she was taken to Mayo Clinic and Saint Marys Hospital while authorities use a K9 unit and drone to search for a suspect. - ➤ The Minnesota Department of Agriculture announced it has awarded over $560K in grants to support workforce programs in the meat processing industry statewide—$341K from one grant will fund three organizations to train workers at small and medium processors while $222K from another grant will help schools expand meat cutting programs such as at Dover Eyota. - ➤ Olmsted County's WIC program won the 2025 USDA WIC Breastfeeding Award of Excellence for its work with mothers and babies. It is one of only three Minnesota programs to earn this honor—showing its strong efforts in peer counseling and improving breastfeeding rates. KIMT
