Good morning, Rochester.

A Rochester man with five previous impaired driving offenses was sentenced to four months in jail—serving 30 days each year for four years—for a felony DWI after a December traffic stop in downtown Rochester, and he also received five years of probation and a $1,000 fine.

Mohamed Noor Jimale, a 24-year-old man from Faribault, admitted to a lesser second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old in Owatonna and was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison—he will also serve 10 years of supervised release after his term.

The Rochester Police Department has managed nearly full staffing and will swear in eight new recruits later this fall — even as a statewide pass rate drop of over 37% challenges many agencies.
