- ➤ Chester Woods Park celebrated its 30th year of operation Saturday — it opened in 1995 for flood control work and now offers 15 miles of trails, camping and picnic areas, a boat launch and a swimming beach. The celebration featured wagon rides at 10 a.m., cake and a foam party for kids at 2 p.m. and live music by The Lonely Knees. KTTC

- ➤ A Rochester man pleaded guilty to a felony burglary charge after police caught him pouring gasoline inside a home during a burglary last fall—he is set for sentencing in September. KROC-AM
- ➤ On June 7, police responded to a report from Quarry Hill Park when a man said an 18-year-old Iowa man fired at his car and stole his cell phone after a hike—authorities have issued a warrant for Lamarion Knox Joseph, charging him with assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, and theft. KROC-AM

- ➤ Industry experts say that leaving aluminum cans whole improves recycling because crushed cans confuse sorting equipment+ and flat plastic bottles are no longer needed with improved technology. The advice helps local recycling centers sort materials more efficiently. KROC-AM

- ➤ Experience Rochester said today that the cancellation of Oak View Group’s food and beverage contract at the Mayo Civic Center is not linked to the indictment against the company’s CEO.
