Rochester was recognized as a Steps 4 and 5 city through the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program for its work on sustainability (energy efficiency improvements, clean transportation, and renewable energy investments).

City officials say the achievement marks progress toward meeting greenhouse gas reduction goals and enhancing community services.

Rochester City Council approved exclusive talks with Landmark Development to study turning the Silver Lake Power Plant site into a multi-use stadium district — studies will determine feasibility with final decisions expected around 2029–2031.
