ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday afternoon near 2:30 p.m., 62-year-old Kenneth Edward Tlougan lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a minivan at the intersection of Hwy. 63 and Hwy. 16 (about 25 miles south of Rochester) and was pronounced dead at the scene.  KROC

FINANCE NEWS

  • On Friday, Altra Federal Credit Union awarded $45,000 in relief grants to 12 members facing terminal illness in partnership with the TriUnity Foundation—these funds will cover essential costs and help restore peace of mind.  KTTC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Rochester thanked its employees and partners for their swift storm response on Thursday, June 26 after heavy rain caused localized flooding and travel disruptions. Public Works, utilities and emergency services cleared debris and managed water flow—keeping residents safe and advising caution around standing water.  KIMT
  • Olmsted County deputies are joining a statewide speed enforcement campaign that will run through September 2—part of efforts during the 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roadways to reduce speeding along Highway 14 and other areas. The sheriff’s office plans to take action if drivers fail to follow speed limits and adjust to road conditions.  KTTC
  • SE MN Together completed a study on a Transportation Management Organization—this transit revamp could boost service reliability and workforce mobility for 11 counties by addressing service coordination and public awareness issues. Funded by a $350,000 grant, the study laid out steps to set up the TMO with Southeast Service Cooperative providing administrative support.  KIMT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rochester's EA Therapeutic Health received a $20,000 grant from The Hartford to expand its adaptive sports program by acquiring adaptive trail hybrid wheelchair bicycles for a summer inclusive biking initiative, and the funding also provided high school athlete Aidan Falcon (a wheelchair basketball player) with a personalized sport wheelchair that eases his training schedule.  KIMT
