ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A tornado damaged a farm near Hartland yesterday — residents rallied around property owner Glen Ausen, who said he was thankful that no one was hurt. KTTC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rochester police arrested 22-year-old (Katavion Lamar Leggins) for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, and felony firearm possession on June 17 after a drug deal in a parking lot at the Gates apartment complex turned violent when he dropped his gun and fired multiple times at a fleeing vehicle while he was on probation for third-degree burglary. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Public Works announced that North Broadway is closed today between 14th Street and Elton Hills Drive after torrential rains caused localized flooding in the construction zone—city officials say the closure will last until water levels recede. KROC
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester is a finalist for the 2025 Most Beautiful Hospitals contest, and public voting opened on June 23. Votes will be accepted until July 25—if it wins, the hospital will receive a $5,000 donation to its foundation. KROC-AM
- ➤ Mayo Clinic announced that the Damon Parking Ramp will close for demolition on Saturday, July 26 to clear space for the new Bernard E. and Edith B. Waterman Building. Patients with appointments at the Mayo and Gonda Buildings will be directed to use the West Employee Parking Ramp (Ramp 9), while those with Methodist Hospital appointments will park at the Graham Parking Ramp (121 3rd Ave. NW). SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Parks and Recreation said the regional sports complex is in design and will start construction in late fall — the outdoor phase will use sales tax funds to build fields for baseball, softball, pickleball, football, rugby, and soccer. The city annexed nearly 145 acres near Shoppes on Maine for the project, which is planned to open in 2027 with an indoor phase costing over $120 million to follow. KTTC
