- ➤ On June 4, the city approved $8 million in Destination Medical Center funds for BioLabs’ new Midwest campus at Two Discovery Square in Rochester. The facility will offer 16,000 square feet and 20—25 equipped lab benches and will begin construction this fall to support local medical and biotech startups. KIMT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rochester man Philp Glen Smith pleaded guilty to selling 17.7 grams of powder fentanyl to a confidential informant from February 18 to March 13 at his apartment — he has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation — and he must complete 100 hours of community service. KIMT
- ➤ A 20-year-old fugitive—Kyle Walding—was captured by Rochester police in Olmsted County after nearly injuring an officer when he fled from an apartment on the 1500 block of Marion Road SE and later threatened another officer with a thrown knife; he now faces charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault, and fourth-degree assault of a peace officer.
