- ➤ Schmitt’s Stride Rite, a family-owned children's shoe store in Rochester that has served customers for 40 years, is closing due to rising costs and product shortages, and owner Terri Pickett is retiring early. A closing date will be announced soon (via Facebook) as the store liquidates remaining products. KIMT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Rochester man, Derrick Rayshon Mays, was charged with fourth-degree assault for allegedly scratching a detention deputy during a food delivery on April 25 at Olmsted County Adult Detention Center—he is no longer in custody and is set to appear in court next year. KROC-AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Construction has begun on the Link Bus Rapid Transit project along 2nd Street Southwest with crews starting utility and road improvements, including stormwater work between 11th and 12th Avenues on Monday through mid-July — traffic will be reduced to one lane each way during the work. The project is designed to offer faster, fare-free transit for local residents and downtown workers. KTTC
