- ➤ Rochester’s Ability Building Community celebrated 69 years with food, music, a petting zoo and slime at an event that offered facility tours for locals to learn about its work helping over 600 individuals find meaningful employment—officials said tours remain available at any time. KIMT
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 33-year-old Rochester woman suffered injuries in a two-car crash on Highway 52 just west of the South Broadway interchange Thursday afternoon at 5:15 p.m. and was taken to St. Marys Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. KROC-AM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police are searching for a suspect after a Rochester woman reported a man hit her face and threatened her on 10th Avenue Southeast shortly after 4 a.m. Friday; authorities described the suspect as a short Black man (aged 18 to 20) wearing a blue sweatshirt and multi-colored pants. KTTC
- ➤ Rochester police say they went to a home on the 600 block of 10th Avenue SE at 4 a.m. Friday after a woman sleeping on a nearby bike path was hit in the face several times by a man (described as a short 18- to 20-year-old in a blue sweatshirt and multi-colored pants) who threatened her before she ran for help. - ➤ The Rochester Police Department is investigating three incidents of assault, harassment and inappropriate touching on local trails from April and early June, including one near 10th Avenue SE on June 13 at 4 a.m., and advises joggers to bring a phone or friend + call 507-328-6800 if they see a suspect. - ➤ A Rochester man, 20, was sentenced to two years of supervised probation for fifth degree drug possession and carrying a pistol without a permit after a December 28 traffic stop found a shell casing, 3.5 grams of marijuana, and a stolen handgun+ he must pay a $700 fine or complete 46 hours of community work service while charges for receiving stolen property and driving without a license were dismissed. - ➤ The Rochester Art Center invites artists to create interactive works inspired by historical objects from the History Center of Olmsted County for a collaborative exhibition; approximately 60 artifacts were selected and submissions, including an artist statement, resume and project budget, are due by June 20. Selected artists will receive compensation and curatorial support when the exhibition runs from October 26—March 2026. KIMT
