- ➤ Cascade Creek, a memory care community in southwest Rochester, hosted its summer kickoff concert and car show on Thursday with classic cars, food by Jersey Jo’s and a concert by the Rockin’ Hep Cats from Dodge Center—raising funds for Walk to End Alzheimer’s. KTTC

- ➤ Rochester police arrested 33-year-old Jhovani Soto after gunfire was reported Wednesday evening on the 4400 block of Manor View Drive NW at around 9:15 p.m.—officers tracked his vehicle to the 3600 block of 1st Street NW, recovered a handgun from the car, and booked him on charges of drive-by shooting, reckless discharge of a firearm and second-degree DWI with no injuries or property damage reported. - ➤ On Wednesday morning, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said a woman reported that a homeless man named Daniel Hill (43) threatened her with a handgun and tried to run her over near the (6700 block of 54th Street SE) while deputies later located a stolen truck from Chatfield and officials continue to search for Hill, who could face charges of assault, threats of violence, and possession of stolen property. - ➤ Olmsted County deputies responded at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday in the 6700 block of 54th Street Southeast when a homeless man is accused of threatening a woman with a gun and attempting to run her over in a stolen pick-up truck; he is identified as 43-year-old Daniel Hill (5'11, 190 pounds) who has seven active arrest warrants. - ➤ Today a judge in Rochester set the trial schedule for former state trooper Shane Roper, who is charged with second-degree manslaughter, criminal vehicular homicide, and other counts after his squad car struck another vehicle last May, killing 18-year-old Olivia Flores. Jury selection is set to begin in early March while a pretrial hearing is scheduled for late February and his defense is expected to argue for a change of venue at an August motion hearing (citing concerns over pretrial publicity). - ➤ Families in Rochester still have summer camp options for kids. Rochester Gymnastics Academy camp will begin on June 9—offering gymnastics training and hands-on activities—and the Rochester Athletic Club and Boys and Girls Club will provide additional programs, with the Boys and Girls Club starting on June 16. - ➤ Rochester is observing Preservation Month under the theme Harnessing The Power of Place to honor local history—City Hall’s dome will light maroon today. In July 2024, the city and Destination Medical Center launched a program that provided $1,120,871 in funding to restore six downtown historic properties and led to Pill Hill Historic Neighborhood’s designation.
