  • The Rochester Rec Center north rink will begin a complete renovation during Memorial Day weekend — new boards, glass, netting and designated areas for benches, penalty boxes and scorekeeping will be installed to prepare it for games until the end of July. The south rink will remain operational although public skating and hockey sessions may face limitations.  KTTC

  • Mayo Clinic reported its first quarter income from current activities reached $359 million—a 5% increase from last year's figure—and quarterly revenues climbed to nearly $5.1 billion, up 8%. Overall expenses rose and the report noted a $43 million loss from investment returns as a result of market turbulence.  KROC-AM

  • An Olmsted County judge ruled today that former state trooper Shane Roper will face charges after he allegedly sped over 80 mph in his squad car near Apache Mall in Rochester and killed 18-year-old Olivia Flores—his plea hearing is set for next week.  KROC

  • Mike DeMarino, owner of Med City Coin and Bullion, called police after a local woman nearly lost $408,000 to a scam in late April that involved suspicious pop-ups and daily calls — he spotted red flags in her request to buy expensive gold bars.  KTTC

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rochester's Mayo Clinic researchers have created the world's first biobank of human salivary gland tissue and organoids to study chronic dry mouth, a condition that affects millions after head and neck radiation. The resource from 208 donors—providing a basis for regenerative therapies—will help develop personalized treatments for patients.  KIMT
  • County officials hosted the first free Mental Health Resource Fair at Graham Park yesterday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—about 30 vendors offered mental health support including housing help, counseling and chemical dependency services.  KTTC
