CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Plainview man Daniel Wade Wood, 48, pleaded guilty to interfering with privacy at home after police discovered a hidden camera in a woman's bedroom (images from April to May were found on his phone). KROC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rochester City Council is meeting today as the City Economic Development Authority to vote on a Tax Increment Financing District that will support the Citywalk Apartment project at the southwest corner of 2nd Street and 6th Avenue Southwest on the former Just Rite Grocery Store property—this project now includes 340 residential units with structured parking and a plan to keep 76 affordable units for 20 years. The nearly $150 million project will begin construction before the end of this year and finish by the end of 2027. KROC
- ➤ The Minnesota Senate passed a bipartisan pension bill that allocates $80 million in FY26—27 and another $80 million in FY28—29 to support public workers. The bill included cost of living adjustments for law enforcement, reduced early retirement penalties for some teachers, and modifications to duty disability benefits while establishing a group to address probation officer concerns. - ➤ Last Sunday, the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series hosted its first race at Gamehaven Scout Reservation with over 400 athletes competing while race proceeds benefited local trails. The volunteer-run nonprofit will run a 10-race series—featuring races for kids, beginners, and advanced riders—that supports mountain biking across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. KTTC
