- ➤ Residents in Rochester took part in Bike to Work Day on Friday as the city set up four stops — Cascade Lake Park, Mayo Memorial Park, Mayo Clinic, and Mayo Clinic Saint Marys — for morning rides from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and afternoon rides from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. to offer treats and a raffle that promoted healthy biking habits. - ➤ The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual 'Cop on a Rooftop' fundraiser on Friday morning outside Dunkin’ where donors received a free donut to support Special Olympics. Sheriff Kevin Torgerson said the event builds community bonds + benefits athletes and their families. KTTC

- ➤ A Mower County judge sentenced Markell Kinney—a Texas man—to two years probation for stealing a Le Roy ATM machine after his January arrest and March guilty plea for theft of over $5,000, fleeing officers, and property damage. KTTC
- ➤ 22-year-old Markell Deshawn Kinney from Texas was sentenced for his role in the ATM theft at First State Bank in LeRoy, where he helped attach the machine to a truck and later fled pursuit; authorities say he was caught in Iowa & given a two-year stayed sentence. KROC
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Farmers in southeast Minnesota have nearly finished planting, and some crops are already emerging, said University of Minnesota Extension expert David Nicolai. He warned that yields may be better later if mid-summer weather brings timely rainfall + stable conditions. KTTC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ 151 students at the University of Minnesota Rochester will graduate this May at the Mayo Civic Center—faculty and graduates expressed excitement as many plan to start advanced studies in Health Sciences and science research. Several students shared plans to pursue masters or PhD programs that aim to open new career paths in medicine and research. KIMT
- ➤ The University of Minnesota Rochester has been recognized as an Opportunity College and University by the Carnegie Classification—an honor that shows the campus enrolls more underrepresented students and that its graduates earn at least 50% more than peers with a high school diploma. Chancellor Lori Carrell said the campus prepares students for health care careers through hands-on learning and daily engagement with medical professionals. KIMT
