  • Police responded to an alarm call at La Michoacana Purepecha around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday and found no one while both this business and nearby Mi Mexicana Market had broken doors and missing cash and jewelry—authorities said they are investigating and do not believe the burglaries link to earlier ATM thefts.  KIMT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • RPS Superintendent Kent Pekel said a study by Dr. Hazel Reinhardt projects an enrollment drop (11%-12.9%) over the next decade as numbers have fallen since 2019-20, and he explained that new housing trends are bringing fewer families with young children into Rochester. He added that the district will adjust budgets and programs if this trend continues.  KTTC
  • Voters in Spring Valley rejected an $11.5 million referendum for Kingsland Public Schools Tuesday, with unofficial counts of 623 yes votes and 683 no votes—district officials said they will continue planning approved improvements from a November building bond referendum and re-evaluate additional space needs. This decision reflects community concerns over both tax impact and the school district's capacity for future growth.  KIMT
