- ➤ The Rochester Branch of NAACP closed its fundraiser for the child at the center of a viral video featuring racial slurs at the request of the family. The fundraiser raised (341,504 dollars) toward a goal of (150,000 dollars). KTTC
- ➤ Nearly $32,000 was raised during the Paws and Claws Humane Society Pet Walk at Cook Park in Rochester on Saturday, where supporters brought their pets to enjoy food + vendors and a K9 demonstration from the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office. The funds will support the society’s efforts to care for animals and connect them with forever homes. KTTC

- ➤ David Lloyd Black, a 22-year-old from Stewartville, pleaded guilty in Olmsted County Court to a fraud scheme that cost a Rochester credit union over $10,000—he will face five years of probation as part of his plea deal. KROC

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hundreds of community members attended the 11th annual EarthFest Expo on Saturday, where over 40 vendors taught about sustainability — the new Fix-It Clinic helped visitors learn to repair household items. Mayor Kim Norton awarded 10 year old Steven Teixeira a Certificate of Achievement for adopting eight storm drains in his neighborhood — more events on solar and heat pumps are planned for the near future. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Rochester City Council will review the updated design for the long-anticipated 6th Street Bridge— a nearly $36 million project with three lanes planned and funded by federal, DMC, and state sources— on Monday. KROC
- ➤ MnDOT will start construction on Hwy 14 tomorrow, May 5, with crews resurfacing the road from Hwy 52 to Crossroads Dr. SW and from 3rd Avenue SE to Marion Road SE. The project — which includes sidewalk repairs, crosswalk improvements, and new pedestrian ramps — is expected to last until Aug. 4 and may cause traffic delays. KTTC
