COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rochester welcomes the return of Lime e-scooters and e-bicycles as the company will deploy more devices this season to meet rising micromobility demand. The city has shared courtesy reminders to keep sidewalks & shared paths safe with updated parking guidelines for all users.  KIMT
  • Olmsted County Parks and Trails is recruiting volunteers to help at local parks including Chester Woods, Oxbow, Zollman Zoo, and Root River Park. Youth aged 14 can volunteer (when accompanied by a guardian) and those 16 and older may apply independently by completing an online application.  KIMT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • DISH Network removed KTTC and other Gray Media channels more than a month ago after rejecting extensions during severe weather and key events — NFL playoffs, Super Bowl and Winter Olympics. Gray Media noted DISH’s rare channel removals and urged subscribers to help restore service.  KTTC

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country music star Dustin Lynch will perform at Treasure Island Resort & Casino's Island Event Center on Friday, July 24. Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17.  KROC-AM
  • Comedian Charlie Berens, known for 'The Manitowoc Minute,' is coming to Rochester for his Lost and Found Tour at the Mayo Civic Center this Friday, Sept. 18. A second show will follow on Saturday in Mankato at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center, with tickets on sale this Friday.  KTTC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Minnesota House approved a bill to scrap the alley system for Rochester Public Schools elections — a rule from 1974 — to simplify voting; if the Senate passes the companion bill, the change will take effect for this year’s contests.  KROC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting in May, Minnesota DNR will require campers to pay in advance for state forest campgrounds via the Yodel Portal or at park ranger stations — a change following a 2025 survey showing strong support for online payment; upon arrival, campers complete a confirmation card and select an available site.  KROC-AM
  • Rochester is welcoming back Lime e-scooters and e-bikes this week as rides climbed 21% last year; City Director Steve Sampson Brown said (no parking zones and device clusters will help keep sidewalks clear).  KTTC
  • Today on Tax Day, the Minnesota Department of Revenue warns that errors in direct deposit info on 2025 tax returns may delay refunds, affecting nearly 15,000 individuals as refunds are processed exclusively via direct deposit; last-minute filers should verify bank details immediately.  KROC-AM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Olmsted County Jail staff were honored last week by the Sheriff’s Office for saving three lives last summer when a fentanyl overdose crisis unfolded in under one hour; they quickly administered Narcan and arranged emergency care for the affected detainees.  KROC
