COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Winnie, a 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog from Paws and Claws, slipped her leash on Mar. 23 and has not been seen since; the Humane Society now asks locals to stop searching while its expert team works to capture her. Please share her story so help remains effective.  KROC-AM

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mayo Clinic's $5 billion expansion is causing road closures. 4th Ave. SW is permanently closed between West Center St. and 2nd St. SW to connect future clinical buildings, and temporary closures on 4th Ave. NW and 6th Ave. SW support construction + work is set to finish by next year.  KROC

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Chatfield Brass Band and Music Lending Library have been inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame and their awards are being presented today at Turner Hall in New Ulm. The honors recognize their long local history (founded in 1969) and unique collection (built in 1981).  KIMT
  • The Rochester International Film Festival began Thursday at POP’s Art Theater, showcasing eight films from around the world and a Finnish comedy at 7 p.m. The non-profit event will continue through the weekend with a mix of dramas, documentaries, and rom-coms.  KTTC

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Minnesota have surged, and AAA says 84% of cars do not require premium fuel even though buying it costs drivers up to $600 extra per year — a switch to regular unleaded may help ease rising pump costs this summer.  KROC-AM
  • Drivers in Rochester still face high gas prices despite a ceasefire in the Middle East; AAA noted the local average is $3.833 per gallon. Many motorists have cut extra trips to save on rising fuel costs & manage their daily travel needs.  KTTC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office hosted its annual Spring Award Program Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Center in SE Rochester - new deputies were sworn in and life-saving awards recognized community members for their service.  KTTC

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Apache Mall now offers ample dining choices for shoppers, featuring a 500-seat food court, sit-down restaurants, and coffee shops; a viral favorite, Bowl N Bite (a family-run Mediterranean spot), has attracted extra buzz since opening last year.  KROC-AM

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Klimt, an 80-unit apartment project, broke ground at 507 2nd Ave SW along the Discovery Walk near Mayo Clinic. It will offer modern amenities such as a fitness space, community areas (including a rooftop terrace) and is set to open in spring.  KROC-AM
