COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On April 27, kids and toddlers are invited to join the Imagination Library: A Pop-Up Book Event at the United Way Services Building in Rochester. The event offers free books and a chance to exchange a book from home + includes story time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. if weather permits. KTTC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Austin Joshua Mortenson, 31, was sentenced for a hit-and-run collision that hurt three people in Olmsted County on November 4th, 2023 at 1 a.m.—he received two years of probation, a $3,000 fine and must pay $17,673.14 in restitution. KIMT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On April 9th, visitors at Cascade Lake Park joined artist in residence Cassandra Buck in a mural workshop at the Lakeside Building. She will host three more workshops on April 15th, 17th and 18th from noon to 5 p.m. to collect artwork for a unified design with the finished mural planned for July. KIMT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Team 2530 Inconceivable, made up of around 40 students from local high schools, qualified for the World Championship for the second straight year after winning a competition at the end of March and finishing second last weekend— the team will compete in Houston from April 16 through the 19 as they continue to fine-tune their robot, the 'shrieking eel.' - ➤ RCTC is expanding its dental hygiene program with a new dental simulation lab to allow class sizes to exceed 16 students—this effort comes as enrollment has increased since the pandemic amid retirements that have worsened the dental workforce shortage. KTTC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials announced that Lime scooters and E-bikes returned to rental service as of Wednesday — riders must now park in new downtown corrals and follow updated rules that restrict use to streets, bike lanes, and trails. Officials reported that last year 133,455 trips replaced about 72,000 car trips and warned that third violations will lead to fines while five violations will ban riders for the season. KROC

- ➤ Hanger Clinic opened a redesigned facility on April 9 for patients with limb loss and limb difference in Rochester. The new space features a workout station, track, kitchen, basketball hoop and golf simulator to help patients practice daily living skills. KIMT
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Three Rivers Community Action announced that a new 36-unit multi-family building named Trotter Haven will be built on 4th Street SE to honor civic leader Jackie Trotter, who has long served Rochester schools and community groups. Construction is planned for early 2026 and the building will offer units with one bedroom, two bedrooms and three bedrooms — the site was previously known as Eastside. KIMT
