COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Rochester will change its Fourth Fest approach this July 4th; the city will not host the festival at Soldiers Field because of budget and staffing concerns — instead, it will broadcast music and community messages while the Rochester Community Band performs at Cascade Lake Park. KTTC
- ➤ Rochester Public Music is seeking food and beverage vendors with an Olmsted County food license for the FORWARD Park Concert series (applications due by Friday, April 10). Concerts will run on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at several parks including Mayo and Cascade. KTTC
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Walmart North in Rochester is adding a Dunkin’ coffee bar near the entrance as part of its remodel to boost shopping convenience—part of a growing partnership with Dunkin’ that offers fast coffee and breakfast options. KROC-AM
- ➤ Hempire (a long-standing local business) officially launched a dispensary nearly two weeks ago at its Valleyhigh location where it now sells marijuana flower and pre-rolls, joining other local cannabis outlets in expanding the market. KROC-AM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Y-105FM in Rochester added a new nationally syndicated morning show featuring Donna Valentine + Steve Patterson, airing weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and produced by Skyview Networks. KIMT
- ➤ Rochester International Film Festival will run at Pop's Art Theatre from April 9 to April 12. The festival, which shows eight narrative and documentary films from around the world including *Minnesota picks*, opens Thursday at 7 p.m. with '100 Liters of Gold'. KIMT
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Minnesota now charges a state gas tax of $0.325 per gallon, effective Jan. 1, which makes up about 18% of the average regular price of $3.57. Combined with a fixed federal rate, the taxes generated over $70 million in highway funds in February to support road and bridge projects. KTTC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Public Schools (RPS) partnered with Rochester Public Transit to offer free busing for high school students and parents between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. today; students simply show their school ID and families should contact the Transportation Department if they need route changes. KTTC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Public Transit is changing several bus routes starting April 26 to boost service reliability and rider experience. The adjustments merge routes 101 and 206 into 120, combine routes 409 and 418 into 410, realign other routes, and offer weekend service from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. KIMT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Olmsted County Public Health Services reminds residents that tick season is here for both people and pets and advises wearing long sleeves, using repellent, and checking for ticks often. The agency warns early Lyme disease signs include fever and headache — taking simple steps can prevent serious illness. KIMT
