ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire burned a garage at a home on 1720 19th Avenue Southeast early this morning—firefighters reported that the blaze also caused moderate damage to the house’s exterior while no one was injured. KROC-AM
- ➤ Yesterday, the Rochester Fire Department responded to a structure fire in southeast Rochester where crews found a detached garage with significant fire nearing a nearby home—crews extinguished the blaze with no victims—and deemed the garage a total loss with moderate exterior damage to the home. KTTC
- ➤ Overnight, at about 3:25 a.m., firefighters responded to a garage fire on the 1700 block of 19th Avenue SE, extinguished flames in a detached garage that was a total loss while noting moderate damage to the home's exterior and finding no occupants inside. KIMT
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A state report from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development showed that Olmsted County’s unemployment rate reached 3% in February, up 0.3 percentage points from January and marking the highest level since July 2021—other southeastern counties reported even higher rates. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Boundless held its first Toddler Gym Class on April 6th to help toddlers burn energy and build physical and social skills. The program—designed by the Southeastern Minnesota Center for Independent Living—is part of ongoing efforts to offer new ways for young children to learn and play. KIMT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Public Transit made service changes that began on Sunday due to construction, relocating the Downtown Transit Center to Central Park and moving stops on 2nd Street (between 11th Avenue SW and 6th Avenue SW) while adjusting bus timetables and expanding the RPT GO pilot program to include the new hub. These adjustments also altered Route 412’s service path. KTTC
- ➤ Rochester Public Transit moved its Transit Center to Central Park on Sunday, April 6 due to downtown construction—changes include stop adjustments on 2nd St. SW, timetable revisions, updates to Route 412 and an expanded RPT GO service that will remain until summer 2026. KIMT
