CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rochester police arrested 39 year old Andrew Tyler Jones after he was spotted on the roof of the former Denny’s restaurant on South Broadway—he was accused of a burglary spree that began in Stewartville last December—and he received a 29-month prison sentence with credit for 72 days in jail. - ➤ The charges against 30 year old Howard Lee Wilson from a police raid earlier this year were dismissed—court records showed he did not have a violent crime conviction and had completed his probation. KROC-AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that Hwy 52 will close in both directions at the I-90 interchange from Tuesday, April 8 until April 12 — detours will reroute southbound traffic via Highway 63 and northbound traffic via Olmsted County Road 7. The closure is part of the second year of a three-year project that will install a new flyover ramp and replace the eastbound I-90 overpass — work that will also reduce lanes on I-90 at the interchange. - ➤ The Heritage Preservation Commission will review a major multi-use development proposal next week by 311 Broadway Development LLC in downtown Rochester—this plan would demolish the former FJ Paine Company Building and adjacent properties while keeping the original front facades. City staff recommended denying a certificate of appropriateness because a similar proposal was rejected in 2023 for not meeting historic preservation standards. KROC-AM
