- ➤ Rochester’s Thursdays Downtown event will shift locations this summer due to planned downtown construction — the series will run on 2nd and 4th St. SW with vendors on 1st and 2nd Ave. SW, starting on June 12 and continuing every Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. except July 3. Entertainers and vendors have until March 30 and March 31, respectively, to submit their applications. KTTC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Police arrested 48-year-old Juan Abel Ochoa on August 22 after a warrant search of his vehicle found 599 grams of meth and 234 grams of cocaine; the Olmsted County Court sentenced him to five years probation + a stayed 14-month prison term if he violates its terms. KROC-AM
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Mayo Clinic made its biggest annual investment in downtown Rochester last year when it spent $176.2 million as work began on its $5 billion expansion. A report from Destination Medical Center shows that the healthcare giant has invested over $1 billion since 2013 while other private investors added $9.3 million. KROC-AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rochester announced Wednesday it earned a AAA credit rating from Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s — the rating reflects the city’s strong regional economy and solid finances and will help lower borrowing costs; the city has held this high rating for nearly 50 years since first earning it in 1977. - ➤ Rochester Public Works is installing all-way stop signs at the intersection of 14th Avenue SW and Peace Garden Drive SW today because backups have intermittently blocked the Mayo Clinic St. Marys emergency entrance. The stop signs will remain until a mini-roundabout is built in 2026 — weather permitting. KIMT
