- ➤ A $75,000 grant from PetSmart Charities will help Camp Companion Animal Rescue provide veterinary care, foster support, and enrichment for pets in southeast Minnesota. The group will bring adoptable animals to two PetSmart locations in Rochester during National Adoption Week from March 24—30. KIMT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 21-year-old Rochester man, Ashton Charles Hyde, was charged with second-degree and fifth-degree assault after firing a BB gun during an argument over a THC vape cartridge on Saturday, and police later stopped his vehicle in a high-risk traffic stop—officers found extra BB rounds and a CO2 tank before he was released without bail. - ➤ On St. Patrick's Day, a Rochester man was charged for a machete attack in a downtown parking ramp where a victim was injured — suspect Anthony Nolan White, previously charged for a similar assault, appeared in court Monday with bail set at $100,000. KROC-AM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new 20-foot sculpture called The Weight of Water by Milligan Studio has been installed at Cascade Lake Park and features ocean colors with a metal canoe and hundreds of colored glass pieces that show the flow of water. The piece sits in the roundabout across from the lake — new landscaping will be finished by the end of spring and a second art piece will mark the park entrance. KIMT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MnDOT has planned three major construction projects in Rochester this spring and summer. The I-90 and Hwy 52 interchange project will begin on April 7 — detouring traffic from April 8 to 12, repaving on Hwy 14 will start on May 5, and a roundabout on Hwy 63 and CR 112 will be built from June 2 through August — and drivers should check the 511 map for updates.
