  • A 29-year-old Rochester man, Garrett Dorsher, confessed to a smash-and-grab burglary at a local jewelry store and appeared remotely today from Stillwater State Prison before an Olmsted County judge who sentenced him to 29 months on a third-degree burglary charge with credit for 344 days served—he is also in custody for an illegal firearm possession conviction.  KROC
  • A 44-year-old Rochester woman—Maria Del Rocio Pezic—has been charged with assault after she allegedly attacked a neighbor with a knife on Friday and a detention deputy in jail on Sunday; she faces charges of second-degree assault and terroristic threats for the neighbor attack and fourth- and fifth-degree assault for the jail incident, with bail set at $2,500 and court appearances scheduled for next month.  KROC-AM
  • A 29-year-old man named Garrett Dorsher confessed to a smash-and-grab burglary at a Rochester jewelry store last April and was sentenced today to 29 months in prison—he is also serving a five-year term for illegal possession of a firearm in St. Louis County.  KROC-AM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • John Marshall High School’s 'Pitch' project had 11th graders explore downtown Rochester and present business ideas to city leaders. The project is at risk of being cut this year—staff are searching for new funding to keep it running—after the city grant ended.  KTTC

HEALTH NEWS

  • During Self-Harm Awareness Month, experts at Zumbro Valley Health Center explained that stress from spring break and the return to school can lead kids and teens to self-harm as a way to cope with overwhelming feelings. Psychotherapy supervisor Alyssa Sumner urged parents to watch for changes such as wearing long clothing — a possible sign of emotional distress — and to start open, gentle conversations about feelings.  KTTC
