COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 65th Street NW from Freedom Drive to 60 Avenue reopened Monday after heavy drifting snow and strong winds caused unsafe conditions on Sunday. Motorists can now use the stretch safely again.  KTTC

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After his Rochester stand-up show on Friday, comedian Bert Kreischer experienced a tire blowout near Fargo on Saturday that led his crew to finish their trip on backup buses, and on Sunday his empty tour bus caught fire along I-94 with everyone remaining safe.  KROC-AM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Rochester Caledonian Pipe Band is set to perform at 11 pubs today as part of the annual Parade of Pubs for St. Patrick’s Day, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Pappy’s and ending at 8:15 p.m. at Whistle Binkies South & offering live bagpipe music in brisk weather.  KROC-AM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A late-season blizzard from March 14-15 dropped over a foot of snow in southeast Minnesota with nearly 20 inches falling in Zumbro Falls, Wabasha, and Reed's Landing. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has released historical snowfall data comparing this storm to some of the state’s largest winter events.  KROC-AM
  • After heavy snow fell on March 14th and 15th, Rochester and nearby communities saw brighter night skies as fresh snow and low clouds reflected streetlights — a scattering effect meteorologists explained. The phenomenon shows how winter weather can naturally light up our evenings.  KROC-AM

FINANCE NEWS

  • First Alliance Credit Union reopened its northeast branch on 37th Street Monday after a closure in October due to water damage. During the demo phase, firefighters used the space for live training exercises — a nod to the branch’s founding ties to local heroes.  KTTC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • 6th Street SW, running from 8th to 10th Avenue, reopened Monday after closing at 8:47 a.m. due to dangerous conditions. City crews and plow teams cleared the road in about two hours to ensure safe travel.  KTTC
