ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A single-engine plane crash-landed north of the airport near Oak Summit Golf Course around 10:15 Sunday, and the pilot was taken for a checkup while the airport changed its emergency response protocol—ARFF teams no longer need permission to leave the property, and the FAA and NTSB are now investigating the incident.  KROC
  • The final NTSB report said a flight instructor allowed an unsafe approach to continue—causing a plane to crash on September 6, 2022 near Red Wing Regional Airport that killed two Rochester men.  KIMT
  • A single-engine plane crash north of the Rochester airport on Sunday night led officials to change rules so that ARFF staff may now leave without waiting for permission— the pilot walked from the site and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.  KROC-AM

CRIME NEWS

  • Olmsted County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested 60-year-old Scott Knutson after he drove 90 mph in a 30 mph zone near Elton Hills Dr. and Highway 52 on March 12 while fleeing police—deputies later found two bags with possible methamphetamines and cocaine.  KIMT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Thursday will be mostly sunny with winds up to 25 mph and highs in the mid to upper 60s. Severe storms are expected Friday evening from 6 PM to midnight with strong winds, large hail, and a brief tornado risk as the line of storms moves in — rain should end by early Saturday morning.  KIMT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mayo Clinic researchers found that proteins (fibronectin and smooth muscle actin) in colorectal cancer tissues may cause some patients to not respond to immunotherapy. Their study may help doctors choose better treatments and avoid harmful side effects.  KIMT
