BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ North Broadway Dairy Queen (the oldest in the state) removed winter boards and posted a hiring sign as it prepares to open its 2026 season, set to bring back Free Cone Day treats. KROC-AM
- ➤ DISH Network customers lost access to KTTC & FOX 47 on Tuesday, March 10 as the provider did not renew its agreement. Customers can still watch the stations free over the air with an antenna. KTTC
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Fox has renewed the MN-based drama Doc for a 22-episode third season and it will continue to air on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. Set in local Minnesota, the show uses iconic landmarks & even references Rochester's Mayo Clinic in its storyline. KROC-AM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UMR and RALC students join a spring well-being initiative — 20 college and 180 high school students in HUM 3402 participate in creative reflection while artist Miri Villiard leads a Community Mural Project Friday to honor student stories. KIMT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Olmsted County announced a multi-year waste reduction campaign Monday. The 'It’s Up To You' effort encourages residents to make small changes at home and track waste over five years to reduce food scrap disposal. KTTC
- ➤ Officials are teaming with the U.S. Forest Service and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to disrupt spongy moth mating with a pheromone spray planned for mid June to early July in parts of Rochester forest, Carly State Park, and Stewartville (the pest threatens trees and can irritate skin). KTTC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tuesday, Fillmore County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to require an environmental assessment worksheet for Bruening Rock Products’ proposed sand quarry outside Lanesboro. The permit is delayed while the sand, meant for local construction projects + mound septic systems, is reviewed amid residents’ environmental and health concerns. KTTC
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota Department of Health said 12 measles cases have been reported nationwide in 2026, with none from Olmsted County. Declining vaccination rates since the COVID-19 pandemic have raised concerns about students becoming vulnerable to the disease. KTTC
- ➤ Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin is set to expand its Progressive Care Unit from three to nine beds by November through reallocating four ICU beds and adding two new ones. Patients needing full ICU care will be transferred to Mayo Clinic Health in Mankato or Rochester. KIMT
