EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Senators Mary Kunesh and Steve Cwodzinski visited John Marshall High School Monday morning to review Rochester Public Schools’ pilot attendance program aimed at reducing chronic absenteeism — the program requires students to achieve at least 90% perfect attendance. KIMT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Since the winter solstice on Dec. 21, Rochester has gained 76 extra minutes of sunlight daily and will add 54 minutes by Feb. 28, meaning roughly two extra hours of daylight by March — with DST set to begin at 2:00 a.m. on Mar. 8. KROC-AM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beginning farmers may be eligible to receive up to $10,000 in grants for ag equipment and on-farm improvements — a 25% match is required for awards over $2,000. Interested applicants can join an online info session on Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. KROC-AM
