  • A local open letter urges residents to support small businesses and local radio (key community voices) to keep our community strong. Business owner Sammi Loo asks people to choose local shops and eateries so Rochester remains vibrant.  KROC-AM
  • Med City Meander will introduce a new 50-mile Rotary Ramble Ride on May 23. Cyclists will start at the Silver Lake Fire Station with check-in (7 to 8 a.m.) and can join a free kid-friendly obstacle course before an after-party at Little Thistle Brewing.  KIMT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Trader Joe's is America’s favorite grocery store chain for 2026, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, topping Publix in the new rankings. Rochester residents can enjoy quality shopping when visiting their local Trader Joe's.  KROC-AM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Business leaders gathered at the Mayo Civic Center for the 2026 Economic Summit hosted by the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce — they discussed growth trends as 33% recorded sales boosts in 2025 and 42% are expected to see increases this year.  KTTC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Feb. 3, Rochester Public Schools passed a resolution that prevents staff from aiding immigration enforcement without a judicial warrant. The board said the new policy protects student safety and builds family trust while superintendent Pekel noted that attendance has returned to normal.  KIMT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Olmsted County Environmental Resources Department announced its compost program joined the U.S. Composting Council’s STA program. It will undergo regular lab tests and planned upgrades to improve texture and expand food waste collection for community use.  KIMT

  • A review compiled 10 top romantic restaurants for date nights, highlighting both upscale and casual options in Rochester with menus that include gluten-free fare (such as Twigs) and sizzling steak plates at Ruth's Chris. The list helps locals plan a memorable evening.  KROC-AM

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A developer is proposing to annex 183 acres in northeast Rochester for a new housing project where plans include 177 single-family homes + 28 quadplex lots. Final plans will be submitted within 30 days and groundwork could begin this summer if approved.  KTTC
