- ➤ People’s Energy Cooperative warns members of scam calls that claim bills are overdue and threaten disconnection, advising everyone to hang up and call the official customer service number (844) 965-1335 if contacted. KTTC
- ➤ RPT launched 'A Warm Place to Be' on Thursday, offering free bus rides for those seeking shelter from extreme cold until Sunday in Rochester (riders must inform the driver to receive the service). KIMT
- ➤ Retired K9 officer Mikey died Jan. 22 after health complications. He served with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department as an explosive detection dog from 2019 to 2023 (his friendly spirit and energy are fondly remembered). KTTC
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Castle Con, a board game convention in downtown Rochester, began Thursday at the Historic Chateau and expanded to the Kahler Hotel, running through Sunday (featuring game tournaments, workshops, and a Meeple Center stage with about 1,200 attendees). KTTC

- ➤ Rochester named Amanda Leightner as its new Economic Mobility Program Specialist starting Feb. 2; she will work with local and regional groups to boost economic opportunity (part of a Gates Foundation-funded initiative). KIMT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Amid an extreme cold warning in Olmsted County from 9 pm tonight until noon and a cold weather advisory until 3 a.m. Saturday, local HVAC technicians advise residents to service heaters regularly, change filters monthly, and clear snow from vents to reduce furnace failure risk + frostbite. KIMT
- ➤ Mayo Clinic performed a record 2,065 organ transplants in 2025 at its Minnesota, Arizona and Florida sites, although over 109,000 patients remained on the waitlist. KROC
