COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Atlas Insurance Brokers marks 25 years in Rochester with its 25 for 25 initiative, donating $25,000 to local organizations. The company will ask for community suggestions and begin its donation drive later this month with its first gift to The Landing MN + more support planned throughout the year.  KIMT
  • Farmers in Southeastern Minnesota will learn new strategies at the free Land Stewardship Project winter workshop on January 27 at the Rochester International Event Center - Martin Larsen of the Oat Mafia will open the session, with Landon Plagge discussing ways to revitalize local markets.  KIMT

CULTURE NEWS

  • The History Center of Olmsted County will unveil an exhibit on IBM's 70-year timeline of technology, showcasing collator machines and disk technology. IBM employees attend a preview from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. before a public opening with a gallery and discussion at 6 p.m. on Jan. 22.  KTTC

ECONOMY NEWS

  • EDF Power Solutions faces delays with its 200-megawatt solar facility due to MISO approving only 100 megawatts for the Byron grid. If a study clears restrictions, the company will begin construction in fall 2026 plus complete the project by mid-2028 to support 200 to 300 local jobs.  KIMT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Olmsted County Public Health Services and the Minnesota Department of Health held a sidewalk chalk testing event Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Public Health Building across from RCTC. Residents brought samples to check for lead exposure, with tests returning results (in about 20 seconds).  KTTC
