- ➤ Rochester’s last GameStop on Marketplace Dr NW will temporarily close on Jan. 15 after its landlord declined to renew the lease; owners plan to reopen in about a month once they secure a new building. KIMT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Houston, Fillmore, and Winona Counties may visit the International Owl Center for free on Saturday, Jan. 10 and Sunday, Jan. 11. The center in Houston offers live ambassador owls and one-hour programs at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (college students are welcome). KTTC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rochester Public Schools will review an $8.3 million budget cut for fiscal 2027 at a school board meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Extra revenue from an unexpected boost of 500 students produced $4.1 million, plus new spending of $900K, lowering previously predicted cuts by over $5 million. - ➤ Registration is open today for the City of Rochester’s Building Blocks Party Trailer that supplies equipment for free block parties—residents can reserve it from April 1 to October 31 with delivery on Friday and pickup the next Monday. KIMT
